About Veena
Veena is the most ancient stringed instrument of India and is associated with Saraswati, the goddess of learning and the arts. Veena is also known as the queen of musical instruments. It is one among the principal trio of musical instruments mentioned in vedic literature, while the other being Flute and Mridanga. Since ancient times,Veena is described as divine instrument and playing Veena is considered to be a yoga. Great epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata also speak of Veena. Vaggeyakaras like Tyagaraja have expressed about the eminence of this instrument.In the same manner, Poluri Govinda Kavi ( of 17th century) had described about the greatness of Veena in his treatise, Ragatalacintamani. ( The first Telugu treatise on Music) in beautiful verses. |

Dr. Nishtala Krishna Veni is a Carnatic Veena Artiste. She hails from a family of abiding interest in Music. Her mother is Smt. D.V.Subba Lakshmi ( BA, & Diploma in Music ). Her father Dr.D.Siva Prasad is a Retd. Sanskrit Professor in Andhra University , Visakhapatnam . She started learning Music from the childhood at her Guru,Smt. Mallapragada Jogulamba (Retd. Staff Artiste, A.I.R, Visakhapatnam and prominent disciple of Sri. Vasa Krishna Murthy ) and honed her skills under her tutelage
